Today I considered James 3:17 when I ask God for wisdom for how to respond to various circumstances whether within my own family or within my larger community. I remember how James warns us that “the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” I pray for this kind of wisdom.
I pray that my heart is pure and my motives clean. I pray that I love peace rather than stirring up controversy for argument’s sake. I pray I’m kind and considerate and submissive to others. I love the promise given after this list: Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
