“I can celebrate every little hint.” Henri Nouwen

I go back to a book I love: The Return of the Prodigal Son, by Henri Nouwen. This time, I focus on his words about experiencing the joy of God each day.

He writes about living in such a way that we discover hidden joys, small and beautiful inklings, and signs of “the Kingdom at hand.”

Nouwen writes, “This is a real discipline. It requires choosing for the light even when there is much darkness to frighten me, choosing for life even when the forces of death are so visible, and choosing for the truth even when I am surrounded with lies.”

And this:

Joy never denies the sadness, but transforms it to a fertile soil for more joy.

We belong to a kingdom of joy, and today I seek it out more and more.
