I have been thinking about what it means to be “conformed to the image of Christ” as it reads in Romans 8:29: For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. As we think about becoming more like Jesus, I remember a few things:
I think about the Holy Spirit helping me become like Jesus in at least three ways: in His servant heart, His surrender to the will of the Father, and in His “sent” life. Those three words might shape our whole lives: serving, surrendered, and sent. As I read Mark this morning, I was struck by Jesus’ words: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.“
I like the part in my daily journal that asks, “Whom can I serve today?”
I’m like Jesus when I’m serving.
