Before Meeting with Friends and Family, Remember Empathy

This video has helped me remember how to listen to others and what to say to them when they are hurting.

The best part of the short video is how Dr. Brown advises us not to say “At least. . . ” when someone shares something sad. Watch the video, and you’ll see what I mean.

You will love this video, and it will make your holiday even better.

Enjoy.

  1. I'm so glad to know this! We have oak trees and I try to ignore them 🙂 Now I have to worry about the one that lost most of its leaves in heavy wind this fall…

  2. Yes. A perfect description of what I want to be able to offer.
On a personal note, sometimes I wish the bear would then take me by the hand, show me to the ladder and give me a push up that first step.

Yesterday I received that kind of help in a letter; today has seemed much brighter and lighter.
I do hope you have a wonderful Christmastide. Thank you so much for all that you share here. Blessings to you, Elaine

  3. THANK-YOU!
About climbing down into the hole . . .made me think back to a story — Corrie TenBoom recounted how her sister, Betsy, having survived a beating by her Nazi guard, comforted and exhorted Corrie not to give into bitterness in the death camps: We must tell them, no hole is so deep that Jesus is not deeper still.
