Every day, find something lovely to observe. It’s so good for you to do this. My lovely thing? This perfect little lilac. It’s over 20 years old. Last year, Ash pruned it perfectly, and it responded with this display below. Lilac smells marvelous. Even a few sprigs brought into the home fragrance the whole room. (One of my favorite Live with Flair moments was the day I realized you have to crush and cut the lilac stem so it can quickly take in water. Otherwise, your lilacs will wilt within a few hours. I compared this to how sometimes we feel God cuts and crushes our hearts. I’ve learned I need this suffering in order to get the most rapid access to the Life-giving Water. I wrote about this in Guarded by Christ, too.)
