This morning, I reflected on a paragraph in Andrew Murray’s book The Ministry of Intercession. He writes this:
“In [intercessory prayer] we too are called to receive in ourselves the fullness of God’s Spirit, with the power to impart spiritual blessing to others. The power of the Church truly to bless rests on intercession—asking and receiving heavenly gifts to carry to men.” Andrew Murray in The Ministry of Intercession
I love waking up and asking God to give me “heavenly gifts to carry” to others. Isn’t that just lovely? I’m about to go to church and work at the Information Desk and Welcome Center. What if I saw my interactions there as bringing each person a heavenly gift somehow? Of love, encouragement, hope, or a timely word? What if marriage and parenting and friendship became a place where we meet with God and receive gifts we distribute each day?
