I read Psalm 59:16, written by David as men surrounded him, sent by Saul to kill him. I imagine the trembling scene and how David proclaims:
“But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, / For you have been my stronghold / And a refuge in the day of my distress.”
I am so encouraged by the “As for me” verses in the Bible because they stand brightly opposed to whatever is happening around the writer:
Consider how Joshua 24:15 claims, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Or Micah 7:7 which states, “But as for me, I will look to the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.”
Everything and everyone around me might do something different, but as for me? As for us? We shall sing of His strength, serve Him, look to Him, and wait for Him.
