A Present Difficulty

I consider how Jesus says that when we ask of God, we shall receive. In Matthew 7:11, Jesus proclaims that our Father in heaven gives what is good. He gives what is good beyond what even the best earthly father could give.

I think that my interpretive abilities fail when I’m in a situation that doesn’t seem good to me. Where is my Father of good gifts then? But I remember how sometimes I’m stuck in a situation because the good gift coming depends somehow on my present difficulty. I remember that God sees what I don’t see and works when I cannot perceive it.

A present difficulty might be a way of holding us in place, restraining something, or shaping something to make us fitting recipients.

The good gift might depend upon a present difficulty.
