My most delightful moment from the Conversation Cafe last night came from a participant who alerted me that she came with someone she thought she knew most everything about. What would they have to talk about? What would they learn new?
The activity involved a question that helped these friends learn something new about one another. The question:
What thought is keeping you up at night?
Sometimes we forget to ask people what’s been on their minds. When you ask about the thoughts spinning in your friend’s head at night, you might just learn something new. In my own group of three, I learned so much about the stressors we all had in common and emotions we often feel right before falling asleep. I had never met these conversation partners before, and in just 30 minutes, we left feeling a truly warm, deep connection. And we talked and talked about the thought keeping us up at night.
