I love the clarity we find in Psalm 143:8, 10. David simply requests this of God:
Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. . . Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Psalm 143:8a, 10
So many of us don’t know what to do next, and we aren’t certain of God’s will for our lives in a practical, daily sense. How wonderful that we can pray for God to show us, to lead us, to teach us! We can trust that He will put ideas in our minds; that He will open doors of opportunity; that He will shape our desires; and that He will make the ground level before us as we journey down the path of His will. He will “make [us] know” what we need to do.
What a mystery! I love saying this to the Lord from 2 Chronicles 20:12: “We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
Here we go: God will make us know what to do next.
