I think about the ease of making healthy choices when our environment supports such choices. But with holiday travel and new environments, our healthy plans tend to fall apart. We eat too much. We sit too much. We sleep too little. What about all our plans for hydration, vegetables, daily walking, and wonderful sleep?
And then, discouragement arrives with all our perceived holiday failures. I remember to lower expectations and make success more attainable by thinking of just one or two healthy choices each day.
Maybe it’s a little stroll, a tall glass of water, an earlier bedtime, or passing on pie. Maybe it’s one little choice to eat this thing instead of that thing.
So I walk instead of sit for a awhile. I drink water instead of another cup of coffee. And I celebrate that little victory.
