Until You Said It

This week, I spoke several times about how I’m growing in my faith and my personal challenges. I prayed that God would give me the words to articulate elusive biblical concepts with clarity. And I prayed that God would help me talk about my own soul and what it feels like to battle dark moods and anxiety.

So many students came to find me to tell me I gave words to what they were feeling but didn’t know how to name or talk about. One said, “I couldn’t explain it until you said it.”

All day, I think about how precious it is to write or speak about our own solitary souls–only to find we are so much more deeply connected than we could ever imagine. What I feel so deeply, you feel as well, but we can’t know it until the words name it.
